From the Chair

The big news that I want to share with everyone this month is that the Cincinnati Section won the American Chemical Society's Phoenix Award for Greatest Industrial Participation during National Chemistry Week, November 6-12, 1994. The Phoenix Award was presented at the Chicago National Meeting on August 22, 1995.

Area industries who actively participated with open houses and demonstrations ar various schools were BASF Container Coatings, Henkel Emery, Quantum Chemical, and Hoechst Marion Roussel! (See photographs on page 10 of this issue.)

How would you like to CHANGE THE WORLD or at least reshape the Cincinnati Section? Please take time to fill out the Membership Survey located on page 5/6 of this issue. The Board of Directors for the Cincinnati Section is interested in your ideas and suggestions. All surveys received or postmarked by November 10 will be entered into a grand prize drawing to be held at the November 15 monthly meeting. To return the survey: remove pages 5/6 from this issue, fill out the survey, fold the survey with the address showing, staple or tape the folded survey, affix first-class postage (the Post Office will not deliver the survey without the proper postage), and drop it in the mail.

Our October 18 meeting will be held at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Blue Ash. Our dinner speaker is Dr. Joseph Francisco from Purdue University. There was not enough space to list all of his awards and publications along with the several "Who's Who" publications. His topic is timely and I hope that many of you will be able to attend.

Don't forget to send in your Survey in time to be registered for the grand prize drawing!!
